Il primo gennaio del 1976 per Empoli, come per molte altre realtà italiane, è una data fondamentale che segna l’inizio di un’attività in capo al comune fra le più significative per quanto riguarda lo sviluppo della persona. Possiamo definire il gennaio del 1976 come la prima data nella quale viene aperto un asilo nido comunale a Empoli. Assessore alla pubblica Istruzione era in quel periodo Giovanna Salvadori. Il personale degli asili nido, in forze fino ad allora all’ONMI, (che cessa le sue funzioni con la fine dell’anno 1975) passa al Comune di Empoli.  Anche il patrimonio immobiliare segue lo stesso percorso. I giochi sono fatti. L’asilo nido era situato nei locali di via Barzino, e aveva la capacità di ospitare 45 bambini.
Tuttavia, l’attenzione al mondo dell’infanzia, nell’ottica di poter garantire uno sviluppo armonico a tutti i bambini indistintamente dalle condizioni sociali di partenza, per le amministrazioni empolesi veniva da molto lontano, dall’immediato dopoguerra. Nel 1953 viene costruita la prima scuola materna comunale a Monterappoli, aperta nel 1954. Nel 1962 fu aperta la scuola materna comunale del capoluogo, in via delle antiche mura, all’inizio con tre sezioni, con le iscrizioni che tre anni dopo erano già triplicate. Seguiranno le materne di Pozzale e Ponte a Elsa, le frazioni più popolose del comune. Nel 1971 le sezioni comunali erano 13 e le sezioni statali 8, sei nel capoluogo, una a Monterappoli e una a Pagnana.
L’asilo nido Stacciaburatta sarà fra i primi asili nido aperti a Empoli, nel settembre 1979; all’inizio si chiamava ‘Sorriso’.

Nurseries in Empoli
The 1970’s, for Empoli and many other Italian towns, were a period of change, as one of the municipality’s most important activities in terms of personal development started to be administered directly by the municipality. The national law 1044/1971 “Five Years Plan for the Institution of Municipal Nurseries” ensured financial support for building 3800 nurseries in whole Italy. At the beginning, it is the function to support the working mothers which is the leading purpose of the nurseries. Since then, thanks to the research and engagement of educators and
pedagogists this vision has been broadened to the concept of early childhood education. For Empoli, it was in January 1976 that the first municipal nursery opened. It was located in the premises of Via Barzino, and could accommodate 45 children. In January of 1978, the construction of the two nurseries in Ponzano (Sorriso, later Stacciaburatta) – where you are standing now – and in Via Valgardena were completed; they were the first to open in new buildings designed exclusively
to house the nurseries. However, Empoli’s administration had always been focussing on the question that all children developed successfully regardless of their social conditions at the outset. Just think of innovative childcare-centers as the “zero-six” that ensures educational continuity to children aged zero to six and the “Trovamici”.

Kinderkrippen und Kitas in Empoli
Die 70er Jahre markieren für Empoli, wie für viele andere italienische Städte, eine Zeit, in der eine der wichtigsten Sozialleistungen im Hinblick auf die persönliche Entwicklung auf die Gemeinden übergeht. Das Gesetz 1044 vom 6. Dezember 1971 „Fünfjahresplan für die Errichtung kommunaler Kinderkrippen mit staatlicher Unterstützung“ sieht eine staatliche Finanzierung für den Bau von 3800 Kinderkrippen im gesamten Staatsgebiet vor. Die Funktion der Kinderbetreuung für berufstätige Mütter steht im Vordergrund. Heute gelten diese Angebote, auch dank des Engagements und der Forschung von Erzieher*innen und Pädagog*innen, als Erziehungseinrichtungen für die frühe Kindheit. Für Empoli wird im Januar 1976 zum ersten Mal eine städtische Kinderkrippe eröffnet. Sie befindet sich auf dem Gelände der Via Barzino und bietet Platz für 45 Kinder bis drei Jahre. Im Januar 1978 wurde der Bau der beiden Kinderkrippen in Ponzano (Sorriso, jetzt Stacciaburatta), wo wir uns jetzt befinden, und in der Via Valgardena abgeschlossen. Sie sind die ersten, die in neuen Gebäuden eröffnet werden und ausschließlich als Kinderkrippe konzipiert sind. Im Laufe der Jahre legte die Stadt Empoli stets großen Wert auf das Wohlergehen und die harmonische Entwicklung aller Kinder, unabhängig von deren sozialer Ausgangssituation. Denken Sie nur an innovative Dienste wie Einrichtungen, die Kindern im Alter von null bis sechs Jahren Erziehungs- und Bildungskontinuität bietet, und an ergänzende Einrichtungen wie Trovamici.
